St. Peter's Basilica....

A massive St. Peter with the keys to the kingdom

There's a story here with this shot, but I'll have to tell it later; New friends, Brother Freddy & Brother  Chris were our personal tour guides throughout Vatican City and various parts of Rome too.  We are thankful for their generosity, company & conversation!
The grand scale of it all is far bigger & more extensive than my vocabulary!!  This is such a tiny part when compared with its whole.

Brother Chris gave us a quick lessson in architectural perspectives.....it doesn't really look like it, but that angel, is probably 14 feet tall.  And the Latin that go around the top of the church: each letter is about 8ft tall!!

rare moment of quiet, as he's contemplatively still, taking in this bit on sizing...

This was my highlight in seeing St. Peter's:  Michaelangelo's Pieta

This was Camden's: the Swiss Guard.  As soon as he heard that they keep up to 5 or 6 different weapons concealed on their person at all times, he was their biggest fan!
